Forest creeks with creative underpainting

two-day workshop

Using a forest creek as our subject, we will extend underpainting from a basic colour wash to an exciting, integral feature that does most of the work for you - guiding you all the way to a lively, deceptively simple artwork full of soft visual textures and layers.

  • Paint faster and freer

  • Add texture and interest

  • Avoid overworking

  • Strengthen your composition and planning

  • Explore exciting colour combinations

Suits beginner to experienced; acrylic or water mixable oil paints.

Together, we’ll choose a simple but very deliberate colour palette and briefly refresh some key composition tips. Then you will paint along with me to create a beautiful forest creek landscape, exploring techniques with water wash and rags as well as brushwork. Take the techniques to apply to your favourite subjects at home.

Back after the popular workshop of her forest trees, and now under her married name (formerly Collins), Victoria is a full-time artist in Canberra and a former TAFE teacher, with loads experience running engaging group sessions.
