Etherea

I call this collection of sapling forests ‘Etherea’ because it is my way of exploring that untouchable, energetic part of the forest that speaks to my soul. Inspired by the native woodlands of my home town, Canberra it is at once a spiritual connection and a familiar place - now, and in the genetic memory of 300,000 years as ground dwelling mammals.

The calm and stability lent by the clean verticals of sapling gum trees, balances the texture and tangle of the forest floor - and earthy neutrals and blue-gum greys against the vibrant colours of Australia’s native flora. Without beginning or end, the tree trunks pull us into the continuum of the forest: past to future; earth to sky.
