'Hollows' is a collection of large paintings evolving from my 'sapling forests' series. Connecting regularly with the forests, I've begun to notice more of the secretive little holes that have been claimed for homes of all shapes and sizes.

These snug sanctuaries tell of shared space; of creatures who are off about their business with no reference to we humans, who are left but to wonder, wide eyed and delighted, at who might return to rest - safe, warm and fat-bellied - once we've looked away.

These stylised paintings represent the ethereal serenity of these features of the forest. In my imagination, they are cracks and holes in the veneer over a world that I know has so much more depth than I am often able to reach.
