Bush Colour abstract series

These artworks attempt to make sense of the dense growth in Australia’s woodlands and forests by simplifying it into rich, soft colour and abstract, organic forms.

In so doing, I hope to express the peace I feel in the Australian bush. These gentle paintings hold space for you to pause and breathe a while.

I am fascinated by the contrast of Australia’s blue-greys and olive greens against our intense blue skies and gelato coloured native wildflowers from yellow wattle to pinks, purples and reds. Together with scrumptious earth browns and ochres, the results vary from minimalist naturals to fun, maximalist bohemian colour!

These pieces are predominantly oil paintings on canvas or linen, with some mixed media.
